an external pouch surely?

No, internal (unless I have the bag inside-out and I don't think I'm that ga-ga  )
You can see it in this photo with a white bit of cord (mine is string like the outside pocket)

Hmm thats different... I'll have to have a closer look!

Is that a leather strap? If it is then its been converted by an Indiana Jones fan.

It's a pinched photo - interior is same as mine though. I have the pukka cotton strap (although it's a miserable thing - can't have been very durable).

Hmm, 17 year old daughter scoffed at my greatcoat (I wore it to pick her up from the station) and yet she tried it on for size when we got home. Way too big, luckily. Had a brainwave and fished the '49 pattern blouse out of the garage. It is too tight for me so presented it as a gift (meh, it only cost a fiver!). Fitted nicely on the body but had ape arms (the blouse' not the daughter  ) being a size 13 suitable for a 6 footer.
Bugger me if she didn't try and snaffle the respirator bag - ooh, 'look at all those useful pockets' she said. I patiently explained it just wouldn't go with the metallic blue leggings 1980's leggings she had bought from the retro shop and with that whisked it away from her. Still, I know what to get her for Christmas now!

Went to the Robert Capa exhibition at the Barbican in London at the weekend. Seeing the images of the Spanish Civil War and D-Day up-close, with the addition of the notes he made is amazing. It's just a shame that the most of the D-Day images perished!

I'm going to see that this weekend. Been reading a lot of Orwell's Jouranlism lately so I'm really looking forward to the Spanish Civil War work.

Well worth it, Gerda Taro's stuff is excellent too. The exhibition downstairs is a bit pants though.

If the ATEI convention in London falls before the 25th of January, I might find the time to slip away and get to the Barbican.

Was thinking about doing a weekend in London with some friends, but it's doubtful I can manage that with my busy schedule

Bought an original EM service cap (size 7 1/4) for 75 Euro. a steal!
Friend of mine bought one at the Ciney Fair for 140 Euro that looked like it had been worn by half the US army.

Ah... if it has just one then its probably just a standard shell dressing bag.

If it has three then its probably a somewhat rarer NCO Medic orderly bag... I've got one and I've only seen one for sale ever and that was at around £50...

BTW... I wish people would post only when things are actually in their mitts rather than when they've only ordered things... I mean its not as though you've actually acquired it until you actually have had it delivered! ;)

I'll let you know when it arrives tomorrow. I didnt realise there were rules regarding when we could post items up

I just thought it would be interesting for other people to see.

Looks like their is a rule now! If Yith writes up a simple rule set I'll shove it at the top of the thread.

:slap:
I was teasing Yith really, but never mind! He has a point though, if peeps ask questions or have points to raise about acquisitions it makes sense to post when you have it not when you order it.

Meh... yup its petty and wasn't directed at you... I've noticed it for a while and didn't comment cos I thought it was petty as well

I just thought I'd mention it now though... Didn't mean to cause problems or make people have a rule set...

(edit: posted before I saw CW's second post... ;) )

Its cool i wasn't offended just a tad taken back. I was mearly showing an item that i was excited to get my hands on (so to speak). It just kinda felt like i was being made an example of. After all i was only being honest.
